Workforce Development & Continuing Education

Workforce Development & Continuing Education programs at Montgomery College offer a wide range of noncredit and credit classes designed to meet the needs of county residents and businesses. Individuals in career transitions, those reentering the workforce, and those updating technical skills, as well as those seeking knowledge enrichment, are among the 25,000 students each year. WD&CE is certified by the Learning Resources Network (LERN), an international association in lifelong learning. LERN has rated our Workforce Development & Continuing Education unit as one of the leading providers of continuing education programs in North America.  

Honors Programs

Montgomery College's Honors Program was created for students seeking exciting and academically rewarding experiences. It allows students to discover and develop their talents and interests through honors courses, seminars, independent study, internships, service-learning opportunities, and social and cultural activities. It features four special programs:

  • Renaissance Scholars, a selective honors program, features scholarship support, special advising, and the opportunity to earn college credit for a summer study/travel experience.
  • Montgomery Scholars accepts 25 outstanding high school graduates each year. This academically challenging program combines a rigorous curriculum of honors courses, special advising, and an honors capstone research project.
  • Macklin Business Institute (MBI) Honors Program offers experiential learning and internships in economics, statistics, and other core business courses, allowing students to build relationships with faculty and local corporate executives. 
  • The Scholars Circle, designed for high-achieving students, provides special advising and activities such as clubs, honors colloquia, trips to honors conferences, and theater performances.
